For better results when printing large engineering parts

This easy-to-assemble upgrade kit offers several small changes that improve overall user experience and print quality. The Enclosure for Prusa XL+ comes with better sealing, which keeps the chamber heated up to 50 °C from the XL+ heatbed alone. The upcoming external heater can take that to 60 °C.

Sealing that holds the heat in

The Enclosure for Prusa XL+ improves sealing to maximize heating efficiency. In practice, the chamber temperature heats up to about 50 °C with just the heatbed. On large parts, that warm air is what keeps the corners down, especially with ASA, ABS, PC, Nylon, and PCCF.

Filtration that runs with the print

The Advanced Filtration System draws air from inside and pushes it through a HEPA filter (99.9% efficiency). That cuts odors and ultra-fine particles when you print ABS, ASA, PA, and similar materials. Filtration is controlled from the printer menu, including post-print run time.

Plugs into the XL+ mainboard

The Enclosure connects to the XL+ mainboard. From the touchscreen, you set filtration performance, check HEPA filter life, control the LED strips, and read the chamber temperature. An extra LED strip syncs with the printer for print-area light and status indication.

Some materials prefer cooler air. The magnetic bellows cover folds open for better airflow when you print PLA or PETG, without swinging doors that eat up floor space. You keep access to the whole bed, then seal up again when the next job needs heat.

Metal frame, Plexiglas panels, mounting points for cameras, electronics, and tidy cable routing. The enclosure also lowers printer noise and covers moving parts. Shipped as a kit with everything included - no printing required.

Perfect fit for advanced materials

Warping on technical filaments is mostly thermal shock: hot plastic meeting cold room air. A stable, warmer chamber reduces that gradient. You get fewer failed large prints, less residual stress in finished parts, and much easier printing of the materials that refuse to behave on an unenclosed printer.

Why 50 °C and 60 °C matter

Higher chamber temperature is what enables reliable printing of large technical components

On open printers, room air cools each layer too fast. On XL-scale parts, that shows up as lifted corners and weak layer bonds.

A temperature around 50 °C is already in the useful range for ASA and ABS, and it helps a lot with Polyamide and many PC jobs. The part cools slowly, reducing the internal stress while the print is still running. Around 60 °C (with the upcoming external heater add-on), you move into the temperature range recommended for printing polycarbonate and larger Nylon parts, where interlayer bonding and dimensional stability improve further.

Common questions about the Enclosure for Prusa XL+

Do I need the Enclosure for Prusa XL+ only for ASA and ABS?

Those are the obvious ones, but large PA, PC, and PP parts benefit just as much. Any filament that shrinks hard as it cools will reward a warmer, draft-free chamber, especially at XL build volumes.

Is 50 °C enough, or should I wait for the external heater?

50 °C from a well-sealed enclosure already puts you in a useful range for ASA, ABS, and many Nylon and PC jobs. The external heater (up to about 60 °C) adds headroom for polycarbonate, larger Nylon parts, and geometries that still want to warp. The Enclosure for Prusa XL+ is designed so you can start with heatbed-only heat and add the heater later.

Is XL+ safe at these chamber temperatures?

Yes. XL+ uses PC and PCCF parts that are already rated for these conditions. You do not need to swap printed parts to make the printer enclosure-ready first.

Can I still print PLA with the enclosure installed?

Yes. Fold open the magnetic bellows cover for better airflow. PLA can soften or look ugly if the chamber runs too warm with everything sealed.

How does filtration work day to day?

The printer controls the fan. For particle-heavy materials like ASA or PCCF, filtration runs during the print and can continue afterward. For PLA and PETG it stays off by default so you do not burn through HEPA filters unnecessarily. Filter life is tracked in the printer menu.

Does it reduce noise?

Yes. The panels cut a noticeable amount of printer noise and keep moving parts covered - useful in shared workshops and offices.

What tools do I need?

T10 Torx, 1.5 mm and 2.5 mm Allen keys, needle-nose pliers, and a universal wrench. You can add a tools option when ordering.

Is this compatible with the original XL, or only XL+?

The Enclosure for Prusa XL+ is designed for the Prusa XL+. If you run an earlier XL, use the Original Prusa XL Enclosure made for that machine.
